International growth in floriculture

March 31, 2025

Hortiflora 2025

Royal FloraHolland has the ambition to grow internationally, together with its members. Based on this strategic goal, we are present at various international trade fairs. These events offer the opportunity to support our members in achieving their international growth objectives, to increase the number of trade lanes between various countries and to strengthen the position of Royal FloraHolland and its members in the international floriculture market. A brief overview of the trade fairs we will be attending this year, often together with members.

Hortiflora in Addis Abeba, Ethiopië (1-3 april)

From 1 to 3 April, several of our members will be present at Hortiflora with their own stand. With more than 100 exhibitors and visitors from Europe, the US, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, among others, this fair is an interesting platform for making valuable contacts with other professionals in the sector. During the fair, the members will present a wide range of products and their latest developments. Ethiopia is an important country, with a turnover of no less than €216 million in Ethiopian flowers via the Netherlands.

Flora Expo Astana in Astana, Kazakhstan (8-10 April)

Royal FloraHolland will travel to Kazakhstan with a group of members. We will participate in the Flora Expo Astana spring fair from 8 to 10 April. Specialists from the global floriculture sector will be attending the fair to view the latest and most beautiful flowers and plants. Our participation in this fair is primarily aimed at strengthening trade relations and expanding the number of trade lanes between different countries. Royal FloraHolland is there to support its members and work together on the further growth of the floriculture sector.

IFTEX, in Nairobi, Kenya (3-5 June)

Kenya is a country where many Royal FloraHolland members and suppliers have a nursery, so there is a long and robust collaboration. Kenya is the largest import country to the Netherlands with a turnover of €406 million. To maintain the good position of floriculture in Kenya, we are present for our members with a stand at the International Floriculture Trade Expo (IFTEX) and our Global Sourcing Services team from Kenya. This is also the moment that the cooperative maintains contacts with the national authorities, such as the Kenya Flower Council (KFC).

IFTF, in Vijfhuizen, the Netherlands (4-6 November)

The exhibitors come from all corners of the world: South America, Asia, Europe, North America and Africa. This is one of the reasons why Royal FloraHolland has a stand at the International Floriculture Trade Fair (IFTF) in Vijfhuizen every year. Many international growers and buyers come together at the fair to network, do business and find inspiration.

IPM Essen (January)

At the beginning of this year, we were also present in Germany at the IPM Essen, together with a large group of members. The IPM is an international meeting place for horticulture and plant innovations. Exhibitors from all over the world present their innovative products and services in the fields of plants, technology, floristry and garden products. Climate change and sustainability are the defining themes here.
