Rijnsburg fully switched to time-slot delivery

We have been handling all flowers and plants at hub Rijnsburg using the order picking system for over a year, after which step by step time slot delivery became possible. Now Rijnsburg is the first location to switch 100% to time-slot delivery.
This not only means that buyers can now choose Select Delivery time slots, but also that the regular process falls into time slots. In recent months, buyers have made the choice whether they want to be delivered in the standard time slots (before 11 a.m. or before noon), via Select Delivery or a combination of these. For this choice, Royal FloraHolland approached them personally.
Much diversity in customer needs
Buyers can indicate per day and per administration number and/or buyer plate which time slot they prefer. This allows them to create the best possible delivery rhythm that fits perfectly with their own logistics processes. Almost 500 buyers have chosen a time slot, and this shows that there is a lot of diversity in customer needs:
Reliability of 99.4%
Can buyers/ buyers trust the promised delivery times? Our data shows that reliability is high: in January, Royal FloraHolland delivered 99.4% of transactions within the time slot agreed with the customer.
Peak period-slot with discount
To achieve this high reliability also in the peak, we need more spread. This is why we also offer a special peak period-slot during the peak period. Customers then get their flowers and plants delivered between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and in return receive a discount of €0.25 per transaction. More on this soon!

- Around 60% choose earliest time slots (before 11 a.m.). The remaining customers choose slightly more spread out.
- 40 buyers are already using the Select Delivery time slot 10.00 - 13.00 where they get (part of) their trade delivered later. Experience shows that this saves them costs/expenses/charges because they can work more efficiently, make better use of box space and employees can be more optimally committed. We also supply (or to deliver) fuller carts.
