Valstar Handling and Van Eijk Handling start offering services in Naaldwijk

December 13, 2023

Flower Handling Services Royal Flora Holland
Royal FloraHolland will permanently stop Flower Handling Services (FHS) on 1 January 2024. On that date, Valstar Handling from Kwintsheul and Van Eijk Handling from Rijnsburg will each start their own unpacking activities at the Naaldwijk hub. Both companies will use existing FHS premises and machinery. They will execute the unpacking activities as they see fit.

The start of Valstar and Van Eijk means that growers still have the option of having their unpacking activities carried out at the Royal FloraHolland hub in Naaldwijk. This has been a priority within Royal FloraHolland over the past period. The transfer of activities for various growers will be actively supervised by RFH account- and relationship management in the coming weeks. The aim is that before the start of 2024, all customers of FHS will be assured of appropriate services.

Royal FloraHolland has examined various options. These showed that discontinuing FHS was inevitable. Execution of these activities could no longer be cost-effective. In exploring possible options, discussions were held with both involved growers and various interested commercial handling parties. Royal FloraHolland will redeploy FHS employees where possible. To the extent that this is not possible, the existing social plan will apply.
