Which certification suits my company?
Find out what certification your company needs to meet FSI requirements.
In the Netherlands you have a choice of two suppliers of certificates: MPS and GLOBALG.A.P. If you want to meet FSI requirements as a Dutch grower, you will obtain a certificate from the GAP pillar and a certificate from the environmental pillar. For small-scale growers an adapted scheme is developed, one certificate is enough to be FSI-compliant. A certificate from the social pillar currently only applies to risk countries, but in the long run it will also apply to non-risk countries. The full list of accepted certificates can be found at FSI 2025 - Floriculture Sustainability Initiative.
What suppliers are there?
In the Netherlands, you have a choice of two suppliers of certificates: MPS and GLOBALG.A.P. Both organizations are basically the same. The difference between the two organizations is that MPS is a company certificate (your entire company is certified). GLOBALG.A.P is a product certificate, this allows you to certify only your floriculture and leave arable farming out of it, for example.
Choice of regular certification or custom certification
Anyone can choose the regular certification. This means that you go through the standard process that MPS and GLOBALG.A.P. offer. For small-scale growers it is also possible to choose a custom certification. With this you are still FSI Compliant, but there is less data to be recorded and the costs are somewhat lower.
Nurseries with a total annual company turnover from floriculture products of less than €250,000 that do business in 'the Global North' (mainly Europe and Israel) are eligible for this customized scheme.
When should I be ready to certify?
As an industry, we have agreed that the majority of nurseries will be certified by January 1, 2026. To meet this date, start environmental certification with MPS no later than 1-1-2025 or 1-6-2025 with GLOBALG.A.P-IDA environmental certification.
In fact, to obtain an environmental certificate, several months of registration must be available.
In addition, ensure that you have made an appointment for an audit with a certification body for GAP certification no later than 1-6-2025 so that they can still schedule the audit in time.

- As of July 1, 2027: all members in the Auction Focus membership package are certified. Growers with a turnover of less than €250,000 can use the small-scale grower scheme. Small-scale Auction Focus growers will receive a one-off payment of €250 until July 1, 2027, if they can demonstrate that they are FSI-compliant.
